A new heart for our community: Building it together
Welcome to Goldfields Connect. This site is exploring the concept of a community hub for Maryborough and surrounds. The project is the result of forums, starting in August 2023 and culminating in 2026, by representatives of not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and other key stakeholders connected to the Maryborough region’s active NFP sector. At these workshops the idea of a community hub, as a means meet needs and desires, was discussed. This Community Roadmap defined this project as the essential first step to enacting our community's shared vision of establishing "A Community Hub [to] support shared local activities and services."
That’s why our first step is a Feasibility Study—and we need your voice to guide it.
This is the website for the feasibility study, which is due to be finalised by August 2026.

This project study is being managed by the Maryborough Volunteer Resource Group and is supported by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.
The study has the dual goal of determining and assessing what services already exist and where improvements could be made, and it will compile and assess the expectations and requirements of our Not-For-Profit community from a Community Hub/Centre. The result will be evidence-based data to guide the next steps in the process of identifying what a Community Hub/Centre will look like in Maryborough and how it will work and what that could be.
